Starting with the iconic hardened brass receiver, the Eagle Scout Award Medal is engraved on the right flat and selectively nickel plated for contrast. An American-style scroll pattern surrounds the medal, and the flourishes continue to the right of the side loading gate. A scrolling banner reads "BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA" next to the medal. A highly-detailed majestic portrait of a bald eagle graces the left side of the receiver, again selectively plated in nickel for high contrast. Intertwined with the scrollwork, a banner reads "TO THIS I PLEDGE MY SACRED HONOR" the closing line of a pledge recited at every Eagle Court of Honor as a reminder of what has been achieved and what is promised.
